In this key role, you will take responsibility for your own section, demonstrating leadership, attention to detail, and a commitment to high culinary standards. You will also play an important role in supporting and mentoring junior kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and positive working environment.

You will have significant front of house hospitality management experience and demonstrate the ability to effectively lead and motivate team members. You will have knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and licencing laws and experience in financial, budgetary and variance reporting.  You should also have excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.

  • Manage the front of house operations in your area of responsibility and ensure that excellent customer service is delivered at all times.
  • Ensure that procedures regarding financial control, Health and Safety, Licencing Law, HACCP and staffing are carried out within University guidelines.
  • Maintain customer care and service standards and have an awareness of product knowledge and merchandising.
  • Work with the Hospitality management team and undertake training to deliver projects that will develop food & beverage offering, management and customer service.

Flexibility is important and the role includes early morning, evening and weekend working on a 5 out of 7 days per week contract (36.5 hours per week).

The University Hospitality Department provides catering to students, staff and external customers throughout the academic year and during the summer months. There are numerous outlets run by the Hospitality Department offering a range of food and drink options.

We are looking for a hardworking and reliable Commis Chefs to support a team of chefs with the production of high quality food, ensuring cleanliness and health and safety standards are met. 

The roles is mainly, but not exclusively daytime shifts throughout the University term time, with the need for evening shifts during the summer months. The role is to support the mechanical fitters to undertake planned and reactive maintenance.

The primary focus is on industrial and commercial equipment such as air handling units, supply and extract systems and the refurbishment of large pumps and motors.  The work will also include repair tasks across the range of plumbing building services to include hot and cold-water systems, sanitary ware, internal plumbing and drainage services across the University estate.

We would like to hear from you if you:

  • have a knowledge of fabrication and basic machining
  • are familiar with and happy to work in the built environment, able to identify and remedy a variety of maintenance tasks and keep all affected informed of the situation
  • have a flexible approach to work and a willingness to undertake training to improve knowledge 
  • are committed to the role and able to work individually and as part of a team
  • have good problem solving, customer service and communication skills

A recognised City & Guilds or NVQ 2 qualification in an engineering/building discipline, or a related subject would be an advantage but not a necessity.

The Workshop Team are a part of the Department of Campus Infrastructure, which is responsible for the development, upkeep and management of all the University's buildings and their upkeep is a vital part of the 魅影直播’s reputation for exceptional student experience.

You will be required to drive University vehicles as part of your normal duties, and therefore holding a valid driving licence is essential. 

This role is offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) permanent basis. Hours of working will fall between 08:00 and 18:00, to be worked flexibly as required by operational needs, Monday to Friday.

You will produce quality food to menu specifications in a high turnover unit and for on-site functions & banquets as required, and ensure that your team adhere to the specific roles and responsibilities relevant to them that are included in the Food Safety Management System (FSMS).

You will work with the management team and undertake training to deliver projects that will develop food & beverage offering, management & customer service, and play a key leadership role within our culinary operations.

We have a part time vacancy available for the role of Food & Beverage Assistant, working during term time. As a Food & Beverage Assistant you will be required to ensure that the day to day running of the catering operation is smooth and that customers are provided with a high standard of service at all times. Your responsibilities will include taking customer orders, serving food and drink, working on the tills, stocking food stations and assisting with cleaning and clearing tables and catering areas. The role will predominantly be working Monday to Friday either 9.30am to 2.30pm or 3.30pm to 8.30pm, but could include early morning, evening and weekend shifts (5 hours a day, 25 hours per week).

This is a reduced part-time contract, working 40 weeks of the year, with fixed time off (that includes personal holiday allowance) in accordance with the University's annual Academic year chart:

Scheduled Time Off:

  • 7 full weeks off over Christmas and New Year, to include the vacation time, public holidays and university holidays, revision days and assessment days, and the inter-semester break, in accordance with the published academic year chart.

We are seeking two reliable and proactive part-time Cleaner Porter to join our friendly Campus Services team within Cleaning and Portering. The role offers variety in your day-to-day tasks, and a typical day could include:

  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of your designated areas 
  • Emptying general waste and recycling bins 
  • Assist with the movement of furniture, equipment, and deliveries.
  • Support room setups for events, meetings, and teaching activities.
  • Respond to reactive requests from building users and facilities teams.
  • Ensure safe handling and storage of materials and supplies.
  • Provide a visible and helpful presence to students, staff, and visitors.

Please note, this role involves lifting and carrying. We are open to consider a variety of flexible work options but the typical role hours are 5am - 9am Monday to Friday with weekend working on alternative weeks. Please note your preferred work options in your application form.

As a Domestic Assistant, you’ll have a key role in helping students transition from living at home to fully independent living and ensuring all our accommodation users have the best possible experience when staying with us.

Responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning accommodation areas
  • Reporting maintenance requirements

  • Acting as the face of the department, engaging with students and visitors

It will be beneficial to have previous cleaning experience and knowledge of working within a hotel or student accommodation, but neither are essential.

Further information:

This role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis (36.5 hours per week) working on a 5 over 7 rota, however, we are flexible on working hours so please outline any specific requests on your application form. 

Cleaning is required in some areas at weekends, therefore there is an expectation to work weekends on a rota basis. Weekend rota work requirements apply mainly during the summer peak period.

As a Venue Supervisor, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of our busy and diverse Students’ Union venues – from bars and cafés to club nights and live performances. You'll lead from the front, ensuring excellent customer service, safe operations, and a welcoming environment for students and guests alike.

You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operations of the service, upholding the highest standards of customer care, and maintaining full compliance with University policies and relevant legislation.

Our team consists of 5 full-time members of staff and over 70 student staff from a diverse range of backgrounds. 

We have a fun, supportive and inclusive work culture, and opportunities for training and development, including first aid and personal licence certification.
