TeamBath Tennis Academy produces young players competing on the junior ITF and Tennis Europe Circuits, and works in collaboration with the LTA as one if its Regional Player Development Centres (RPDC).

We are looking for an engaging, diligent coach to provide planning and delivery of strength and conditioning (S&C) to performance tennis athletes. Working with high performance tennis coaches, you will plan, manage and deliver the physical preparation of youth, student and performance tennis athletes including but not limited to gym and on court sessions, and pre and in-competition support.

We are seeking someone who:

  • holds a degree in Strength & Conditioning or a related field 
  • has experience delivering Strength & Conditioning services in a performance sport setting
  • has experience working with youth athletes and an understanding of the of implications of growth and maturation on a developing athlete
  • is confident working independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • has excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • is committed to ongoing professional development and service improvement.

In addition to the above experience work in tennis or an understanding of court-based sports would be desirable.

Further information

This is a full-time role (36.5 hours per week) working 33 weeks per year, for a fixed-term period to cover parental leave until May 2026.

An enhanced DBS check is required for this role, as well as an up-to-date Emergency First Aid at Work certificate.

You will lead the delivery of group-based strength and conditioning sessions, working primarily with university-level athletes. The role involves designing and implementing evidence-based training programmes that support athletic development, performance enhancement, and injury reduction.

You will work closely with the Lead Athletic Performance Coach and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure a holistic and aligned approach to athlete support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply research-led best practices in physical preparation, periodisation, and recovery.
  • Contribute to athlete screening, monitoring, and load management.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to programme evaluation and reporting.
  • Support CPD activities and contribute to cross-departmental education initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to support athlete development pathways.

This is a great position to learn and develop basic skills within a sporting environment where you will get to work alongside high-performance athletes, many of whom compete in the Summer and Winter Olympics.

Your main responsibilities will consist of

  • lifeguarding
  • setting up indoor and outdoor activities
  • setting up events
  • assisting with general enquiries from customers
  • responding to ad hoc requests for support

You will also be involved in patrolling facilities, security, cleanliness, health and safety and emergency procedures.

You will need good interpersonal skills, the ability to work as part of a team and enjoy working varied hours. 

You will work an average of 36.5 hours per week over in a shift rota with the other Sports Assistants which will include early mornings, evenings and weekends covering all hours of operation between 05:45 and 22:30 weekdays and 07:30 to 19:30 weekends. 

Due to the working hours and pattern of this role, this role is only suitable for those aged 18 years and over.

Part of this role involves lifeguarding duties and therefore you will need to have a lifeguarding (NPLQ) qualification. You can gain the qualification by completing a short course with the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) - find out more here:
