We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to join the School of Management as Head of MBA Operations. This is a high-impact leadership role at the heart of our Professional Services team. Reporting to the School of Management’s Director of Operations, you will provide visionary leadership to the MBA Operations team, which brings together three specialist sub-teams: MBA Recruitment & Admissions, MBA Programmes, and MBA Careers. From attracting top global talent to delivering transformative learning experiences and career outcomes, your leadership will be instrumental in shaping the future of our MBA provision.

Our MBA programme is central to the School’s global reputation and this role is pivotal in ensuring the successful implementation of the School’s MBA programme. You will collaborate closely with senior academic leaders including the Associate Dean for Education, the Director of Teaching for MBA Programmes, and the Director of Studies. Together, you’ll align operational delivery with strategic goals, ensuring our students receive an exceptional experience from application to graduation and beyond. Your work will help ensure that our MBA remains globally competitive and renowned for student success.

This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of cutting edge-research in automotive propulsion as part of IAAPS - a world-leading research centre driving innovation in clean propulsion and mobility. As part of the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥’s commitment to engineering net zero, you’ll contribute to transformative research in fuel cell systems - helping shape the future of sustainable transport.

You will be joining an expert team working on the digital twin of a hydrogen electric propulsion system as part of a government funded project in collaboration with a leading industrial partner.

As a key member of the project team, the successful candidate will:

  • Develop and refine simulation models of propulsion systems using 1D and 3D tools to collect thermal, fluid, and performance behaviour.
  • Design and implement a hybrid digital twin architecture, integrating physics-based models with real-time sensor data and digital processing components.
  • Collaborate across disciplines with engineers, data scientists, and industry partners to co-develop solutions aligned with UK aerospace innovation priorities.
  • Disseminate findings through high-quality technical reports, academic publications, and presentations at national and international events.

As a member of Research Staff at the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥, you will be encouraged to take up a minimum of 10 days professional development pro rata per year.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience in thermal and performance modelling using tools such as Simulink, GT-SUITE, SimCenter or similar.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and/or Python for simulation scripting and system analysis.
  • Ability to interpret sensor data and validate models against experimental or field data.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to document and present research clearly.

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience in developing digital twin architectures and integrating real-time data.
  • Understanding of control systems, including dynamic response and actuator constraints.
  • Familiarity with CFD/FEA tools for thermal and structural analysis.
  • A track record of interdisciplinary collaboration, especially with AI, controls, or hardware teams.
  • Knowledge of fuel cell stack and balance-of-plant component modelling

  • An established background in policy and stakeholder engagement, with an excellent understanding of how evidence informs policymaking in different contexts.

The successful applicant will have a track record and background in electromagnetics with a research portfolio that is directly aligned with one of the Faculty research Centres. The successful applicant will be expected to identify and signpost which Centre they best align with.

You will hold a PhD and an undergraduate degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. Through your research and teaching, you will be passionate about addressing the global challenges and educating the next generation of engineers. This role will suit you if you

In the role you will: 

  • Provide comprehensive administrative and financial support to the ISC Directors, including diary management, travel arrangements, and acting as the primary point of contact for queries from international partners and stakeholders.

You will have a relevant welfare and wellbeing-related academic qualification, including professional membership/registration in the areas of Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy or other appropriate allied health profession.

You will also have:

  • experience of delivering pastoral care, welfare and mental health/wellbeing support to a good standard.
  • effective communication and negotiating skills.

The position has been created to strengthen the Networks and Collective Behaviour research group led by Professor Tim Rogers, the incoming Head of Department. The role offers an exciting and flexible opportunity for a confident early-career researcher to both contribute to existing research lines within the group and to initiate new projects in collaboration with Prof Rogers. You will be able to make leading contributions in a variety of research directions, from building new interdisciplinary collaborations to publishing and disseminating results.

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ the Networks and Collective Behaviour research group

The successful candidate will join an active research group focused on the development and application of mathematical methods to complex systems, with a particular emphasis on networks, stochastic processes and mathematical biology. Group members work on a variety of topics from ecology, evolution and epidemiology, through to animal and human behavioural dynamics. We develop and analyse mathematical models (both simulation and theoretical studies) and often work collaboration with experimental scientists. Mathematical techniques deployed include network theory, dynamical systems, stochastic processes and random matrix theory.

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ you

We are looking for an enthusiastic and conscientious researcher who would value the opportunity to begin new collaborations and begin to develop leadership of their own research programme. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and attributes:

  • A PhD in mathematics, theoretical physics, or a closely related discipline (or expected to be awarded shortly).
  • Strong background in applied mathematics and analytical techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Experience of interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Familiarity with numerical methods or programming (e.g. in MATLAB).

This research is supported by a project grant from Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council with co-funding from Arla Foods Ingredients and is being conducted in partnership with a co-investigator at Birmingham (Prof Gareth Wallis) and collaborator at Bath (Dr Sean Williams).

The Research Associate will take responsibility for participant recruitment and the day-to-day running of the experiments, including the co-ordination of research students as required.

This project is an excellent training opportunity and involves many state-of-the-art techniques – including blood biochemistry, indirect calorimetry, and the application of stable isotopes to study human metabolism. There will also be opportunities to see how research can lead to impact within an industry setting.

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ you

The ideal candidate will have experience of conducting human randomised controlled trials using methods of assessing glucose metabolism such as blood sampling and processing and stable isotope tracers of glucose.

The MHRG is funded for 5 years by the National Institute for Health Research. The focus of our work is applied research aimed at improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people. 

This part time, fixed term (12-months, 0.2FTE) post will be based in-person in the Department of Psychology at the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥. 

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ the role 

This Research Assistant post will focus on utilising large scale, electronic healthcare linked longitudinal data, to understand the identification of, and healthcare provision for, children with neurodiversity within healthcare systems. The successful applicant will bring strong training and/or experience in advanced data-analysis methods, and an enthusiasm for working with large datasets, including datasets with linked healthcare data. The successful applicant will need to already have, or be eligible for, accreditation as an Office for National Statistics Researcher. Previous experience of conducting research focused on the mental health of children and/or young people is essential.  

We have a clear commitment to skills training and career development for all research staff in the MHRG. You will work under the supervision of world-leading clinicians and academics. The Bath MHRG is partnering with the Universities of Bristol and Exeter (as part of the GW4 network) and there may be opportunities to work with researchers at partner institutions. 

You will also have opportunities to receive further research training (e.g., in PPIE or good clinical practice).

Embedded in a collaborative partnership between UWE Bristol, the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥, and Futures West, and funded by the Research England RED Fund, the Brunel Centre will serve as a vital hub for economic data, research, knowledge exchange and policy innovation.

You will work as a Data Analyst in the Brunel Centre team to generate real-time and long-term insights on critical economic challenges for the West of England. A major part of your work will be to help design, develop and maintain a new, cutting-edge, publicly-accessible Data Hub and Observatory for the region’s economy. 

Your role includes building and maintaining a modern Data Hub for the region's economy. You will:

  • identify, collect and migrate data from a range of economic, social and environmental data sources 
  • manage, clean, abstract and aggregate data, and manipulate and link different data sets
  • apply tools and techniques for data analysis and data visualisation (including the use of spatial data mapping tools)
  • summarise and present data in different formats
  • contribute data analysis to a variety of research projects

We are looking for a dynamic data analyst with a passion for applying data analytical tools and techniques to understand complex economic issues. 

You will hold a degree and postgraduate qualification in data science, mathematics, economics, or a related disciplinary field utilising statistics and advanced quantitative methods.

You will be proficient in data analysis tools, such as Microsoft Excel and SQL, programming languages like Python and R, and data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI. You will have knowledge and experience in data storage and management.

The role will provide accurate, timely and auditable assistance in the administration of the hardware and software procurement processes compliant with University Financial Regulations.

Procurement Support:

  • Raise requisitions and purchase orders ensuring purchasing is carried out in accordance with the University’s purchasing policy and guidelines and UK legislation.
  • Check validity of requests to purchase.
  • Resolve or refer non-compliant requests as appropriate.  
  • Investigate queries and discrepancies with requisitions, receipts, orders and invoices escalating as required.
  • Check that deliveries are complete, record Goods Received, and process returns to vendors.
  • Ensure that all orders are charged back at correct values and quantities, making required amendments.
  • Use the University’s Purchase to Pay system.
  • Use the Departmental purchasing card and ensure accurate records are kept of expenditure.

General ITP Administration support:

  • Deal with telephone enquiries and take messages as required.
  • Receive and distribute post and couriered deliveries.
  • Receive goods through the University finance system and pass on invoices to the Payments Office.
  • Assist in liaising with suppliers to research, source and procure goods and services.
  • Ensure purchasing is conducted in accordance with the University’s purchasing policy and guidelines.
  • Assist the Central Office Finance team with DDaT’s financial processes 
  • Raise requisitions for internal and external goods and services through Agresso.

The EPSRC-funded (Leadership Engagement Acceleration & Partnership) Hub is a ground breaking Digital Health Hub for the South West of England and Wales. The Hub aims to build on the strengths of each of its institutional partners to provide opportunities for training, research, and collaboration.

The Hub programmes comprise a Skills and Knowledge Programme that delivers a selection of training courses designed for professional learners across the Digital Health sector, a Fellowship Programme to develop future leaders in Digital Health, and a Research Programme that is funding opportunities identified by the Hub.

We are keen to recruit a researcher with expertise in digital health (i.e., health, psychology, human computer interaction, human factors, computer science or a cognate discipline) to primarily support Bath’s contribution to LEAP’s . Specifically, the researcher will support the curation and development of teaching resources to support a portfolio of courses that are being developed to reflect the needs of learners working in digital health. Introductory short courses that Bath aims to develop include Data Mining, Statistics in Practice and Machine Learning. You can find out more about the potential content that these might include . There will also be opportunities to contribute to the development of associated new MSc programmes in The School of Management in areas relating to Digital Futures, including courses involving artificial intelligence, behavioural science, and cybersecurity, with close links to industry and public sector priorities. The Research Associate/Research Fellow will be based within the Information, Decisions and Operations (IDO) Division School of Management at the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥, where there will also be opportunities to work across our current suite of grants and research centres. The appointment will be made at a level commensurate with your experience. The University Hospitality Department provides catering to students, staff and external customers throughout the academic year and during the summer months. There are numerous outlets run by the Hospitality Department offering a range of food and drink options.

We are looking for a hardworking and reliable Commis Chefs to support a team of chefs with the production of high quality food, ensuring cleanliness and health and safety standards are met. 

The roles is mainly, but not exclusively daytime shifts throughout the University term time, with the need for evening shifts during the summer months. The role is 36.5 hours per week on a 5 out of 7 basis. The role is contracted to work 42 weeks across the year with typical non-working weeks at Christmas, Easter and August. 

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ you:

Demonstrating a passion for cooking high quality food, you will have previous experience of working as a junior chef. An NVQ in Food Preparation would be a distinct advantage. You should be comfortable with working in high pressure environments and have a positive attitude, demonstrating an ability to form effective working relationships with other team members.

Funded by the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) in partnership with the National Police Chief’s Council (NPCC), the Bath P-ACE is one of funded across the UK. 

The aim is to improve connections between academic researchers and police forces, making it easier to identify and draw upon the best research evidence, science, and technologies to drive service improvement in policing. 

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ the role

We are recruiting a Knowledge Exchange (KE) Facilitator to provide specialised KE support to ensure that our existing world-leading research and expertise at Bath is synthesised and shared with relevant policing partners. 

Given the fast-paced policing environment and tight timescales for input into policy issues, the KE facilitator will be instrumental in supporting the P-ACE objectives and bridging the gap to policy and practice. 

The KE Facilitator will work closely with the core leadership team of the P-ACE, while also developing strong working relationships with appropriate academic and professional staff from across the University (including at senior levels), our external policing and other stakeholder partners, and the other P-ACEs. 

The KE Facilitator will lead for engagement and bring the skills, knowledge, experience and attributes needed to deliver the P-ACE’s KE and communication strategy. 

The role will be busy, wide-ranging, challenging and exciting. 

It will include the day-to-day running of the P-ACE, engaging with external stakeholders, translating academic findings into accessible formats for policy makers and relevant stakeholders, working to develop placement opportunities, events management (where appropriate), supporting the development and maintenance of the P-ACE website and social media. 

A key part of the role will also be in facilitating the effective mobilisation of relevant expertise at Bath to proactively address new policing needs as they arise, supporting the leadership team and external steering group in the deployment of a flexible fund at speed. 

With the challenges and opportunities of establishing a new P-ACE, the successful applicant will be proactive in solving problems, confident working independently and using their judgement and creativity to investigate and resolve any new or non-standard problems, yet confident asking for help and feedback.

This role would suit either someone with a background in academic research and (ideally) experience of writing for non-academic audiences or with professional experience in knowledge-exchange and communications.

This is a part-time (0.6 FTE) fixed-term role expected to end 30 September 2028.

You will work as a Development Director in the Brunel Centre team to play an essential role in leading on external income generation, stakeholder interactions, and managing/securing partnerships for the Brunel Centre with regional and national stakeholders.

You will be based at the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ campus but will be expected to work flexibly across the offices of the partners – the University of the West of England and Futures West – and in the West of England and wider South West region.

You will attend events and workshops, as need requires, to support partnership development and opportunities for the Brunel Centre in London and elsewhere in the UK.

The primary focus is on industrial and commercial equipment such as air handling units, supply and extract systems and the refurbishment of large pumps and motors.  The work will also include repair tasks across the range of plumbing building services to include hot and cold-water systems, sanitary ware, internal plumbing and drainage services across the University estate.

  • have a knowledge of fabrication and basic machining
  • are familiar with and happy to work in the built environment, able to identify and remedy a variety of maintenance tasks and keep all affected informed of the situation
  • have a flexible approach to work and a willingness to undertake training to improve knowledge

  • have good problem solving, customer service and communication skills

A recognised City & Guilds or NVQ 2 qualification in an engineering/building discipline, or a related subject would be an advantage but not a necessity.

We have a part time vacancy available for the role of Food & Beverage Assistant, working during term time. As a Food & Beverage Assistant you will be required to ensure that the day to day running of the catering operation is smooth and that customers are provided with a high standard of service at all times. Your responsibilities will include taking customer orders, serving food and drink, working on the tills, stocking food stations and assisting with cleaning and clearing tables and catering areas. Full details of this role are included in the job description. 

The role will predominantly be working Monday to Friday either 9.30am to 2.30pm or 3.30pm to 8.30pm, but could include early morning, evening and weekend shifts (5 hours a day, 25 hours per week).

This is a reduced part-time contract, working 40 weeks of the year, with fixed time off (that includes personal holiday allowance) in accordance with the University's annual Academic year chart:

Scheduled Time Off:

  • 7 full weeks off over Christmas and New Year, to include the vacation time, public holidays and university holidays, revision days and assessment days, and the inter-semester break, in accordance with the published academic year chart. 
  • 2 weeks off over Easter, to include the vacation time, public holidays and university holidays, in accordance with the published academic year chart
  • The first 1 full week off in June 
  • 2 full weeks off between mid-August and mid-September, to be agreed with your line manager

Training and uniforms are provided. There are opportunities for development and to seek promotion in this role.

The successful candidate will have experience of providing an excellent standard of customer service in a customer focussed environment. Previous experience of working in the Hospitality industry would be an advantage. The University will develop capabilities across the organisation to become a data-driven organisation at all levels and view data as an institutional asset. This data will provide insights and actionable recommendations to support decision making. By unlocking the value in our data, we will maximise student and staff experience by tailoring our services.

The digital transformation journey is also transforming the way in data & technology services are delivered. The Digital, Data & Technology Department (DDaT) is a passionate community of technical experts who provide digital, data and technology services that are accessible, relevant, and secure. We are motivated by helping people solve problems, be more effective in what they do today and innovating to improve of what can be achieved in future. 

Significant change in technology and service provision is anticipated and it is vital to have effective, proactive engagement with other departments and faculties. This will address a key improvement required within the Evolution project to develop and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders to deliver greater efficiency, coherence, cooperation and coordination. 

The Enterprise Data Architect role sits within the Data & Technology pillar within DDaT. You will work closely with the Chief Data & Technology Officer (CDTO) and stakeholders from around the business on the creation and measurement of the university’s data strategy. You will provide data architecture leadership, setting the data architecture standards and ways of working for the data community.

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ you

You will be a subject matter expert and trusted partner with excellent communication skills working professionally and collaboratively with colleagues, business stakeholders, business analysts and project managers, to ensure that solutions are aligned with the reference architecture to deliver maximum value to the business. 

You will lead the architecture of the university’s Enterprise Data Hub, to act as a single source of quality assured data to underpin insight and data-driven services.

Capable of operating across a wide-ranging technology stack including SaaS, PaaS, Commercial off the Shelf as well as in-house custom developed solutions, have the knowledge and skills necessary to take functional and non-functional requirements, provide expert architectural direction to engineering teams based on these requirements and evaluate engineering designs against architectural standards.

You will play a vital role in maintaining strong professional relationships with current placement providers in an industry facing role whilst also proactively sourcing and developing opportunities to generate new placements. You will act as a point of contact for students, academic staff and employers, dealing with enquiries and providing guidance. A major part of the role is to provide employability support to students on a one to one basis and good written English skills are essential. 

In addition, you will be required to deliver skills workshops and talks and must be a confident, lively presenter to communicate to the student audience. Your focus in the post will be on supporting students to apply for placements in automotive and general and specialist engineering sectors. A high proportion of the students you support will be mechanical and electronic engineers.

With excellent organisational skills, you will demonstrate a good use of initiative and have the ability to multi-task and prioritise a high workload. Attention to detail and good administrative record keeping are essential. Working together as a team is key to our success, so being a great teammate is essential. Placement Officers host companies on campus as well as visit them on site to promote the placement scheme. You will be working as part of a multi skilled technical team, providing services to both the teaching and research teams within the engineering faculty. 

Duties for this role, include but are not limited to

  • Provide the staff and students of the engineering faculty with skilled and technical support for the design and manufacture of unique devices. 
  • The repair, modification and construction of new and existing equipment. With the manufacturing of new components. 
  • Collaborate with academic and research staff and students, providing support and guidance regarding design and manufacturing.
  • Supervision of undergraduate students in a workshop environment, this includes the basic use of hand and machine tools. 

Services provided by the team include the use of conventional and CNC machine tools, with fitting and assembly skills to produce customised equipment. 

The manufacturing workshop is equipped with modern conventional lathes, milling machines in addition to operator programmable CNC milling machines and lathes along with a wide range of other machine tools, sheet metal working equipment and a separate welding shop. 

The department has a further dedicated CNC manufacturing and research laboratory equipped with industrial scale CNC multi-axis machining centres.

  • Served a recognised engineering apprenticeship in a toolroom, workshop, manufacturing or laboratory environment 
  • Demonstrable ability to examine, understand and assess relevant engineering information, concepts and ideas and to suggest solutions to problems 
  • A track record of contributing to the design, development, and implementation of solutions 
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively apply relevant codes of conduct and practice 
  • Relevant qualifications at GCSE level, City & Guilds or equivalent experience working in a relevant field

This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of cutting edge-research in aerospace propulsion as part of IAAPS - a world-leading research centre driving innovation in clean propulsion and mobility. As part of the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥’s commitment to engineering net zero, you’ll contribute to transformative research in fuel cell systems helping shape the future of sustainable transport.

You will be joining an expert team to work on the digital twin of a hydrogen electric aircraft propulsion system as part of a government funded project in collaboration with a leading industrial partner. The role will involve regular working on-site with the industrial partner who is located around 30 miles from the university.

As a key member of the project team, you will:

  • Develop and refine simulation models of aircraft propulsion systems using 1D and 3D tools to capture thermal, fluid, and performance behaviour.
  • Apply AI and machine learning techniques (e.g. LSTM, k-means, reinforcement learning, Bayesian inference) for tasks such as parameter estimation, fault diagnostics, and remaining useful life (RUL) prediction.
  • Design and implement a hybrid digital twin architecture, integrating physics-based models with real-time sensor data and AI components.
  • Validate models and AI predictions against test data to ensure accuracy, robustness, and regulatory compliance for aerospace applications.
  • Collaborate across disciplines with engineers, data scientists, and industry partners to co-develop solutions aligned with UK aerospace innovation priorities.
  • Disseminate findings through high-quality technical reports, academic publications, and presentations at national and international events.

As a member of Research Staff at the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥, you will be encouraged to take up a minimum of 10 days professional development pro rata per year.

  • Monthly accounting of research costs and preparing quarterly/annual accounts
  • Providing research income and overhead estimates for departmental planning purposes

  • Maintaining detailed reports, supporting external returns (e.g. HESA), and ensuring accuracy of data

The role sits within the Management Information Section (MIS) team. We provide financial support to Academic and Professional Services departments, with responsibility for planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting.

The department is based in the Virgil Building in the centre of Bath and there will be a requirement to work on the main campus at times, however, hybrid working is one of the many ways we recognise the importance of achieving a positive work life balance. Attention to detail is important, as is the ability to manage conflicting priorities at times. Role

The Head of Legal Services leads the delivery of legal guidance across the University’s academic and commercial operations. The role includes ensuring legal compliance, managing risk, and leading all aspects of the legal and Freedom of Information teams. The position reports to the Director of Legal, Governance & Compliance and includes managing relationships with external legal counsel. Join our thriving Department of Chemistry as a Lecturer in AI/ML applied to drug discovery

  • You will develop an internationally leading independent research programme.
  • You will teach applied AI/ML in a drug discovery context in both lectures and computational classes, more specialised units in the final year (in both departments) and contribute to our PGT course on Drug Discovery (joint with the department of Life Sciences), maintaining the University’s high standards in teaching and learning, and its inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Ensure systems change management is carried out in accordance with agreed standards and procedures, creating and managing software test and development environments. You will therefore design, script, code, test and document the deployment and development of Open Source commercial and custom software using agreed standards and tools to achieve well-engineered bespoke systems, especially when linking existing systems or providing novel interfaces to existing data. 

You will provide advice and assistance on service and component availability, employ through-life planning models to ensure systems meet business needs and inform customers of supplier product developments and upgrades, advising on implementation. You till developing implementation plans for complex requests for change, evaluating risks to infrastructure integrity and reviewing effectiveness of change implementation. 

Provide and maintain stable HPC and research storage services, ensuring maximum operation of service, alongside providing technical support to the active community of Research Computing users. This would be through technical knowledge transfer, assisting them with utilising the resources, debugging and optimisation, through innovative solutions that enrich and enhance user experience and service delivery. 

Supporting outreach activities to enable exploitation of cloud research services by a broader user-base, represent the University within the HPC community through regional and national HPC centres and the HPC Specialist Interest Group, undertake research into suppliers, markets and product and service categories and overall be a trusted advisor and advocate between IT and key University stakeholders. 

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ you

  • Detailed knowledge and experience of administering Linux servers and a working knowledge of Windows operating system.
  • Familiar with HPC technologies, including provisioning, job schedulers and low-latency interconnects.
  • Experience with HPC Job Schedulers such as SLURM, PBS and IBM LSF. 
  • Knowledge and experience in using one or more scripting languages, such as Bash, Python and SQL.
  • Experience with any cloud services such as Microsoft Azure, AWS and GCP. 
  • Understanding of parallel programming methodologies.
  • Experience in the design and delivery of training courses.
